DIBBY DOUGHERTY & DAVID YOUNG – Morning Light

Northern Irish producer Dibby Dougherty makes his Flow Vinyl debut following a string of well-received releases including the ‘Exploring: Ireland’ mix album. ‘Morning Light’ sees the Yello resident join forces with fellow Belfast boy and regular production partner David Young; the duo also play live together as DhARMA and have recently launched a label of the same name.

‘Morning Light’ is a slow burning slice of dancefloor electronica featuring the voice of Ryan Vail, also from Northern Ireland. The force of the music is matched by Vail’s melancholy vocals, and the trio have crafted a track full of drama and brooding atmospherics that builds in intensity before gently releasing its grip on the listener.

We head over to Russia for the first remix from Alex Monakhov and Serge Que, otherwise known as Monaque. These guys are an emerging force on the underground progressive techno scene, and their version of ‘Morning Light’ is a spaced out, percussive reworking of the original that increases the pressure. Trippy effects and treatment of the vocal complete the picture.

The second remix sees Re Dupre from São Paulo at the controls. The man behind Miami Underground Records and a popular name on the Brazilian scene beefs up the drums as well adding an extra dose of funk-fuelled bass. This one is guaranteed to kickstart the party
