FV047 - DNYO & GRG - Day Off

As the New Year dawns, Flow Vinyl celebrate with a suitably joyous and warming musical contribution. The label’s first release of 2013 sees two up-and-coming producers join forces to superb effect on Day Off. DNYO hails from São Paulo and has already made his mark at Flow Vinyl with his remix of Lapis Lazuli by Darin Epsilon & Tom Sela, while GRG, otherwise known as George Gomes, is originally from Brazil and now based in London. Both have made a big impact over the last two years with a string of well-received productions and remixes, and together they have crafted something very special in Day Off.

Building slowly through layers of enchanting keyboards and a gentle breakbeat, it will light up any dancefloor before bringing it back down to earth with shimmering guitar effects and delicate synth lines. It’s the perfect winter-warmer, in fact. The remix package is no less impressive with Egbert from Cocoon and Gem Recordings pushing the percussion and bassline to the fore to create a more stripped back, groove-driven version. Less is most definitely more from the Dutch producer as spacey keyboards complement the pulsating rhythm.

The second remix comes from Guy Mantzur, and the Israeli producer is already a firm favourite with Flow Vinyl aficionados with several releases and remixes for the label. He takes Day Off on a deeper, darker adventure with its swirling tides of tripped-out effects and driving beats.
